When is the Fair Celebrated?
This beautiful fair is celebrated every year on the auspicious Kartik Purnima. The full moon day in the Hindu Lunar month of Kartik has been known to be auspicious, and pilgrims from far and wide come here to take a dip in the holy waters of the Pushkar Lake and pray to Lord Brahma. In 2018, the official dates for the Pushkar Fair are November 15-23.
What is the Religious Significance?
The Pushkar Fair has religious roots that attract pilgrims from around the world to take a dip in the holy water of Pushkar’s Lake. The two days around the full moon are considered to be the most auspicious time of the year for bathing in the lake. A holy dip in the lake is believed to wash away all your sins.
