My friends laughed at me when I made a plan to visit the green paradise

‘Kerala‘ in July. They called it ‘off season’ because of monsoon. But believe me, Kerala is lovely anytime of the year. Because of some of the finest beaches, hill stations and backwaters in the world, it serves as a picture perfect honeymoon destination. After my research, I planned to go for a backwater trip in Kerala.

I started with the serene backwaters of Kumarakom, where I hired a houseboat with single bedroom. That luxuriously decorated houseboat (traditional Kettuvallom) took me to a journey of the enchanting beaches, dreamy hill stations, aromatic tea & spice plantations and dense greens. The backwaters were full of various other houseboats and I could see numerous couples enjoying their honeymoon vacations to start their blissful marital life. I could imagine that enjoying a luxury houseboat ride and sailing along the serene backwaters of Kerala along your companion would surely be an unforgettable experience.

During my three day trip on the modern and luxurious houseboat, the cook served me a huge variety of delectable freshly cooked dishes. I could see the couples floating along serene backwaters with no one to interfere in their privacy. While passing through lush green forests, I could feel the exotic fragrance of lilies and invigorating lotuses. Colourful water birds trailing the houseboat and flying in azure sky were another fascinating attraction. I spent many hours in night while lazing on the deck of my houseboat and enjoying the breathtaking view of sparkling stars.
I woke up to the chirping of birds and enjoyed the fascinating glimpses of beautiful countryside. My backwater trip offered me a wonderful opportunity to see the amazing Chinese Fishing Nets and Fort Cochin at Cochin, 140 year old Pier and Snake Boat Races at Alappuzha, Shri Padhmanabhaswamy Temple and the 19^th century Napier Museum at Thiruvananthapuram, and few other exciting attractions of Kumarakom, Kovalam etc. Stretching up to 1500 km, these shimmering backwaters of Kerala are best mediums to explore the verdant green hill stations and secluded beaches while on a honeymoon trip.

India is perhaps the only land in the world that has no dearth

of tourist attractions. Ranging from history to adventure, medical (Ayurveda, Yoga etc.), spirituality, beaches, and hill stations – India has a category of tourism for every aspect. The actual beauty of these states lies in ancient temples (Vaishno Devi, Amarnath Cave etc.), snow clad peaks, enchanting valleys, cool rivers, exotic flora & fauna (Corbett National Park, Rajaji National Park), and the rarest of adventure sports (trekking, skiing, white water rafting, paragliding, mountaineering, snow boarding etc.).

Rajasthan is one such state, which is the favourite among all the

history buffs and wildlife lovers. It is undoubtedly the most colourful and vibrant state of India that showcases royal history of the Rajput kings through ancient forts & palaces, colourful festivities, the rarest of wildlife and interesting camel safaris. Places like Amer Fort, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Mehrangarh Fort, Fateh Garh Palace, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary etc.  are major tourist destinations.

When we talk about historical places in India, the capital city Delhi and the wonder city Agra are considered the gems of Mughal dynasty. From the Red Fort, Old Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, and Qutub Munar of Delhi to the Fatehpur Sikri and Taj Mahal, the symbol of love in Agra – Mughals have created unbeatable monuments. The temples of Delhi (Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, ISKCON Temple) are important from religious as well as architectural point of view.

Apart from that, India has a long and beautiful coastline surrounded by the

Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal. States like Goa, Tamil Nadu, Maharashatra, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka offer some of the best beaches in the world. These are specially meant for relaxing holidays and superb water sports/activities like sun bathing, swimming, surfing, water scootering, fishing, angling, canoeing etc.

Kerala is one such land that is full of divine greenery and is incomparable in its Ayurveda practices, temples (made in typical Dravidian style) and enchanting backwaters. Luxurious houseboats (traditional Kettuvalloms) here provide you with the unique opportunity of living on waters while exploring all the nearby islands.

Moreover, if you wish to explore the lifestyle of the interesting tribes of India, no other place can compete with the rural areas of the south and east India.
